The Eoghan Rua club, as it thrives today—with its own grounds, clubhouse, and over 20 teams competing in football, hurling, camogie, and ladies’ football—stands as a testament to the unwavering dedication and strong sense of identity of those committed to the principles of the GAA.

Founded in 1958 and originally established as Owen Roe GFC, this club has experienced both triumph and adversity throughout its history. It is a story shaped by the men and women who laid its foundations, the Ceili band whose contributions helped sustain it in Coleraine, and the remarkable achievements in junior, intermediate and senior across all codes.

Eoghan Rua have been hugely succesful over the years with two senior county championship victories, one senior county league title, one all Ireland sevens championship, two Dr Kerlin cups, two senior Ulster league titles Via Croke park for an all Ireland final following Derry and Ulster Intermediate championship success in the mens along with success across Womens LGFA Football winning a Derry LGFA Football title in 2024 and Camogie Junior and twice Intermediate championship winners, not to mention All Ireland Feile champions in Camogie 2024  – it has been one hell of a journey and the future is bright for Eoghan Rua!
